MMIGP has established a community controlled and managed Foodbank program run by staff and volunteers from the community which is a resounding success. This unique program is based on an energy exchange model and distributes fresh produce that would otherwise end up in landfill.

In addition to our wonderful volunteers, MMIGP have incredible support and commitment from Second Bite and Fare Share without whom this program would offer only a very limited amount of food.

MMIGP’s Foodbank Program was the recipient of an award in the past  – Program Leadership and Innovation from the Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee (convened by Indigenous Issues Unit within the Department of Justice). MMIGP was also nominated for the Statewide award in the same category.

Mmigp’s Foodbank is available for all Indigenous Community Members, Non-Indigenous Partners or Non-Indigenous Carers who reside in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne
